Does ChatGPT Dots work in Microsoft Teams?
You can't message your dot in Microsoft Teams yet: it's an invite-only alpha. Your dot can still read Teams through a plugin. Here's what works today.

Not yet, for most people. Messaging your dot in Microsoft Teams is an invite-only alpha. What you can do today is connect the Teams plugin, so your dot has your Teams conversations as context when you talk to it in ChatGPT.
#Three Teams things that get mixed up
"Dots and Teams" can mean three different things, and only the plugin is open to everyone today.
#What do you want Teams for?
Now match that to what you're after. Tap the one that sounds like you.
#How to tell whether you're in the alpha
Open your dot's profile and look at the buttons under its name. Outside the alpha there are two, Call and Slack, and no Teams button.

There's no request form for the alpha. In an Enterprise workspace, an admin can turn on the permission Add dots to Slack and Microsoft Teams, but that doesn't open Teams messaging by itself. Dots for workspace admins has the settings.
#Connect the Teams plugin
The plugin is the part that's open today. If you sign in to ChatGPT with a Microsoft account, setup offers Teams alongside Outlook and SharePoint, behind one Continue with Microsoft button.
If your dot already exists, add the plugin yourself:
- Open Plugins from the @ icon at the far left of ChatGPT.
- Under Communication, find Teams ("Summarize Teams and follow up") and click +.
- Sign in with your Microsoft work or school account. Your Microsoft admin may need to approve it first.
Your dot sees only what your Microsoft account can already open. It isn't a member of your Teams, so it doesn't post there: you still talk to it in ChatGPT.
#Check you've got it
One question before you go.
A colleague types @ChatGPT in a Teams channel and asks a question. Who answers?
- Your dot, because you connected the Teams pluginThe plugin gives your dot context. It doesn't put your dot in the channel.
- The shared @ChatGPT assistant your organization set up@ChatGPT is shared by the team. It has none of your dot's memory and doesn't speak for your dot.
- Nobody, until your organization joins the alphaThe alpha is for messaging your dot. @ChatGPT in Teams is a separate feature on Business and Enterprise plans.

Can my dot read Teams meetings?
Through the Teams plugin, it can look up scheduled meetings your Microsoft account can see, and read a transcript when one exists and you have access to it.
Is it a different dot in each place?
ChatGPT, calls and Slack all reach the same dot with the same memory.
